Newslines.org is an interesting website where you can submit current trending news posts and get paid. It is a relatively new website, which started back in 2012 and founded by Mark and Mary Devlin .
The website accept members from English speaking countries or native English speakers. You must also be able to come up with excellent English written posts free from spelling and grammatical errors.
However, you do not need to be an experienced writer to start writing for Newslines. According to Newslines, their writing style is different from other types of writing.
So, it does not matter whether you have experience or not. All their writers have to go through trial writing until the time they get it right, even for experienced writers.
How to Get Started with Newslines
First, you need to register on their website, make some posts and wait for the editors to review them. If your posts are approved, you can now start submitting more posts to get paid.
If not, the editors will send them back to you with comments on what you need to do. You then review your posts and resubmit them once again, until when they are approved.
Each post you submit must be composed 50-100 words, a summary of the news about an event in the subject’s timeline. No past information is allowed.
The submitted post must give an update of the current topic or events, following the below format;
- The date of the event
- A short title
- A summary of the news about the event on that day, which is always written in the present tense.
- A link to an original news article
- A quote by the subject of the post about the event
- An image upload or a link to a YouTube video
Basically, you just have to summarize a story from another source and link back to it. You can find such stories in the newspapers’ articles, other websites, Facebook, Twitter posts, interviews and YouTube videos.
However, you are not allowed to use Wikipedia or other biography sites as a source.
How Much Money Do You Get Paid Per Post
Until recently, writers were earning $1 per accepted post. However, the $1-per-post program is now finished and Newslines is planning to introduce a revenue sharing program in partnership with Google Adsense in the coming days.
So, I guess you will need to have a Google Adsense account to earn money from the website. You then get paid through Paypal once your have accumulated atleast $20 in your account.
Conclusion
With the current introduction of a revenue sharing program, Newslines has set a good ground for their writers to earn more money since they are no longer limited to $1 per post.
However, this will only be possible if the website is getting high traffic or if you as a writer, you are able to promote your contents, which is a concern for those writers with little or no time to promote. This is unlike in the past, when you get paid $1 for submitting a post without having to do anything else.
However, since you will be submitting hot topics or current trending topics, people are always interested in this kind of information and it can be very easy to generate massive traffic within a short time.
The 50-100 words count requirement is also something worth mentioning. I mean, writing 50-100 words posts shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes.
You can write as many as 10 or 20 posts in a day, you just have to make sure you are updated with current news. The more posts you submit, the more money you are likely to make from their revenue sharing program.
